Hi Diddle Diddle (’43) is one of the most genuinely odd movies ever made
What a strange strange little slapstick movie. I watched it (because of Tarantino’s inclusion of it as one of the greatest ten movies ever made) late late at night and meant to watch it again (without the impairing fog), but discovered to my great dismay that I had accidentally returned it instead of another movie. So, now it lives in my brain as just this fog of strangeness. The scene of double takes is thoroughly bizarre.
(Maybe Tarantino was referring to the 1927 version…?)
